Don’t Let the Smile Fool You….

Don’t let the smile fool you…

It was 2012, and I was newly-divorced, and I was being robbed on a daily basis.
There were 2 THIEVES in my life.
The PAST
and
The FUTURE.
I imagined worst-case scenarios on a regular basis. If I could go back to this person, I would say,
𝘎𝘜𝘙𝘙𝘙𝘙𝘓, 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺.
𝘉𝘶𝘵 y𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘺!”
Imagination is the most powerful mental faculty we have because it deals with the “𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝗲” element.
However, it’s a terrible thing when we use it against ourselves.
What we focus on EXPANDS. Make sure your focus is on the reality you want to create.
If I had to guess, there are others out there like me. I want you to know, you’re not alone and change begins with our thoughts.
I often ponder the question: what advice would I tell my newly-divorced self?
Obviously, I can’t go back in time, BUT I can use my knowledge for good and help others.
5 Things I would tell my newly-divorced self:
  1. Focus on what you have instead of what you don’t have.
  2. Count your blessings. You can’t be miserable and grateful at the same time. Ask yourself, what has God done for me today?
  3. Create daily rituals or routines to set the stage for the day.
  4. Journal. Get the squirrels out of the brain and free up your precious mental real estate. Also dream BIG on the pages of a journal. How can you expect to create a better life if you don’t know what that even looks like?
  5. Create a project, task or a deed. Challenge yourself. Do something you’ve always wanted to do but you’ve been holding back. Follow-through is key, and it will help with self-confidence.
