I have to admit I kinda feel like a champ, and it’s not because I defeated my TV/audio system, even though, that in itself is quite an accomplishment, see Girl Underwater for the inside joke.
I feel like a rockstar because I triumphed over a debilitating belief system that I carried around for way too many years. It was the feelings of inadequacy and rejection that flooded me. Even my body responded and manifested the negative emotions. I remember waking up with disfiguring hives on my face, and I couldn’t leave my house until my swollen eyes and lips shrunk back to normal. I gave the show “Botched” a run for its money. Hives do not last forever, thank you Lord, but I struggled with them for years. Every time I went to the allergist, he would confirm that I was not allergic to a thing, except my situation. This was all happening because of the fear that was consuming me. I was ignoring the blaring alarms that were going off in my body. It was as if my body knew before my mind did. The hives were simply a manifestation of fear, but my logical mind did not comprehend what was going on.
Are you finding yourself reacting to the fear of the unknown? If yes, this is a normal state to be in, especially if you are facing an emotional crisis like divorce.
I routinely witness clients, standing at the edge of divorce, and they too are going through the loops of self-defeating talk – I cannot financially do this, will I ever be happy again, when will I stop thinking about my pain?
Mentally cataloging all of your deficiencies can be paralyzing and negativity breeds more negativity, eventually slowing down the healing process. If you can’t shake the mind chatter, I can help you with a simple shift that will interrupt the mental loops of worry while allowing you to establish a sense of balance.
People often ask me, is it possible to find happiness after a painful divorce? The answer is ABSO-freakin’-LUTELY – that is, if you seize those pesky self-limiting thoughts. There’s another integral part of the story. You must work on yourself. I don’t mean to state the obvious here, but it doesn’t take much to become distracted from your self-development. Honestly, it’s a heck of a lot easier to avoid deep self-introspection and keep life light. A deep dive inward requires acknowledging responsibility in your divorce and let’s be honest, most of us would rather avoid that head-on collision with accountability.
I’m going to show you how to make small, but profound changes that will propel you forward in your healing process. Let me explain.
We can all agree that life is off-kilter and balance seems impossible right now. I want to introduce you to a simple concept that can help bring balance back into your life. It’s called “counterbalancing.” All this means is that you must focus on three key areas of life – your physical health, your emotional well-being and your spiritual life. You must give time and energy toward each area, and if you let one become depleted, you will feel off-balance. There’s so much to tell you about this subject, and I feel as if I am only giving you the cliff notes on how to accomplish this.
So here’s what I would like to do to make things easier for you and me.
I have gathered the most effective tools that helped me in my divorce, and I want to share them with you. This information is a part of an online course that I have been crafting for two years now. It’s my baby, and it’s something that I plan to sell. I put long hours of preparation by handpicking valuable content to help you move through divorce with grace and ease.
With the introduction of the coronavirus, we as a society have been launched into a volatile state of uncertainty. As a result, I feel called to give you a portion of the course right now; not only will it help you with the fear of the future as it relates to divorce, but also as it relates to living in the times of COVID-19.
The online course in its entirety would be hours of content, so I chose a 15-min lesson on counterbalancing. It will show you how to create a new norm after divorce and help you establish a sense of balance in these times of chaos. When we cannot change our situation, we must change the way we react to the situation. The goal is to teach you how to come out of any life transition emotionally, physically and financially whole.
